Investigating the Effects of Forming Parameters on Molding Force and Springback in Deep Drawing Process of Thermoplastic Composite Laminates

The automotive industry and research centers have intensified the search for innovative solutions in field of material technologies recently accelerated their work on thermoplastic based composites line with requirements. Thermoform method is used rapid forming thermoplastics composites. In this process, mold design especially molding parameters are important part quality. Thermoplastic composite sheets take shape final form by spring back after they come out as sheet metals. Therefore, springback a parameter that should be taken into account manufacturing process product design. study, preliminary was carried to thermoform mold. experiments were done Nakajima test setup according ISO 12004 standard. deep drawing laminates, effects different holding pressure (0.4; 0.6; 0.8 MPa), punch speed (90, 120, 150 mm/min), specimen temperature (129, 159, 169 oC) piece depth (20, 25, 30 mm) force examined amount drawn specimens determined. As result experiments, increased decreased. increased. Increasing caused an increase required force. it concluded can made up 25 mm.
